THE ROLE OF UNIVERSITIES AND THEIR CONTRIBUTION TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

23-24 November 2012, Belgrade, Serbia

Although the concept of sustainable development was promoted in the
1980’s, there are still unsustainable trends in the fields: climate
changes, transport, health, poverty. Revised EU strategies are emphasizing
7 main goals:

– climate changes and clean energies
– sustainable transport
– sustainable consumption and production
– protection and managing the natural resources
– public health
– social inclusion, demography, migrations
– global poverty and challenges of sustainable development

The main theme of the conference is the role of education and whether is
it included in all the 7 goals?
